The Hunchback of Notre Dame

  • Missoula Children's Theatre 200 North Adams St. Missoula, MT, 59802 United States (map)

The Missoula Children’s Theatre is thrilled to open this Fall with The Hunchback of Notre Dame …

And the Missoula Community Chorus is thrilled that our very own Ellen McKenzie will be conducting a full on-stage choir throughout the entire show—adding the depth of live choral music to the performance.

In the video linked below, you’ll hear from Ellen McKenzie as she shares about this unique partnership between MCT and MCC. Together, our two organizations are creating something truly powerful for our community.

Music by ALAN MENKEN • Lyrics by STEPHEN SCHWARTZ • Book by PETER PARNELL

Based on the Victor Hugo novel and songs from the Disney film

From Victor Hugo’s 1830s gothic novel, black & white films of the 1930s and the animated Disney film of 1996 comes a tragic, yet hopeful story of Quasimodo. Banished to live as the bell ringer in the Notre Dame tower in Paris because of his physical differences, he lives as an outcast. One day he ventures outside, declaring “If I picked a day to fly, this would be it!” but is ridiculed by everyone except the lovely Esmerelda, who pleads for mercy towards Quasimodo (“God Help the Outcasts”). The Academy Award-nominated score by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, supported by the hauntingly rich voices of Missoula-area choirs, will bring this powerful story to life. Quasimodo’s struggle for acceptance and love may find him to be an unlikely hero. Disney is gifted at showing the darker side of humanity mixed with compassion and hope in this unforgettable musical.
