The Missoula Community Chorus is a non-profit, non-auditioned Chorus open to all who love to sing. Do you love to sing? Do you have good pitch and a good attitude? Can you commit to weekly rehearsals and seasonal performances? If so, we’re looking for you! The Chorus embraces a wide range of abilities and welcomes newcomers. Our members experience the joy of creating beautiful music as a part of a large chorus. While developing and polishing musical skills, we also create new friendships and have the opportunity to share our love of music making with others.
Who can Join?
Anyone interested in singing! All we require is that you regularly attend rehearsals and learn the music in preparation for concerts.
What’s expected of Members?
The main chorus meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 7-9 PM from early Sept. through early Dec. and again from late January to early May at Loyola Sacred Heart High School. The Women’s Ensemble meets weekly on Thursday evenings from 6-7 PM. We perform twice annually in Dec. and May. We ask members to regularly attend rehearsals and dress rehearsals are mandatory for participation in our concerts. There is a singer’s fee associated with each session (Fall and Spring) and a discount for those that pay for the entire year at the beginning of the Fall session. These fees cover less than half the costs associated with the chorus and so we also have a few fundraising activities (mostly fun things like our annual sing-along) that we ask our members to participate in. We also look for assistance from members in helping sell concert tickets, advertising for our our concert programs etc..
How Can I Join?
When openings become available or we begin a new session our Chorus Manager will contact singers, giving preference based on the order we receive your inquiry of interest and on the voice types (Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass) we need to keep a proper balance. We keep an active waiting list and will periodically update prospective singers as to their status (generally at the beginning of each session). Thank you for your interest and we hope to have you sing with us in the future!
